[Personality]

As the personal maidservant to the Lady Morgana Gwen is obviously a very trusted member of Castle’s staff. Throughout the whole of her time as maidservant she has proved herself to be extremely dedicated when it comes to her work. She is always there for the Lady Morgana and willing to work hard all day every day until she isn’t needed anymore. As a result she has proved to be a good friend to the Lady Morgana as well as others in Camelot such as Merlin. Above anything she is loyal to a fault and she proves her friendship more than once. She treats her friends like her family (probably since she doesn’t have much family to speak of only her father Tom and brother Elyan) and will do anything to help them.

When we are first introduced to Gwen it’s clear that she’s reserved and a little shy. She’s been used to having most contact with the Lady Morgana and other people seem to make her a little nervous. She’s always a little scared that she’s going to end up saying the wrong thing and in most cases that ends up being the reality no matter how hard she tries. Her interactions with Merlin, Arthur and Lancelot show this clearly. This might just show nervousness around young males or just new or important people in general.

“Arthur’s a bully and everyone thought you were a real hero”
-Gwen to Merlin.

From this statement the impression is clearly given then Gwen is not a fan of the Prince even though Merlin is convinced she might have a crush on him she denies it. There is a similar situation when a newcomer Lancelot arrives in Camelot. This clearly shows that Gwen finds it extremely difficult to admit to her feelings, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. This may have something to do with the way she perceives herself. She is simply a servant and in her mind she doesn’t think herself worthy for a prince or a knight. Although she is clearly a beautiful woman she is not vain in the slightest. For a while she also develops a crush for Merlin (the complete opposite of Arthur). This could show that Gwen can be too open with her feelings in the sense that she feels a connection to people with great ease. However, it’s possible this was simply to try and distract herself from her feelings for Arthur.

Although Gwen can be quiet and shy in some matters she’s shown to stand up for what she believes to be right even if it is not the general consensus. She is strong of will as well as of heart and she is stubborn, refusing to give up on something that she truly believes in. Being the daughter of a blacksmith she knows how to handle a sword and her determination to help those in trouble and need persuaded Arthur to let the woman fight. She is a strong believer that women are just as capable as men when it comes to these matters – to fight for their family and for those they love and is extremely brave. As mentioned before her family mean the world to her, clearly shown by her obvious distress when her father was ill and her grief when he died.

As time goes on she becomes more and more confident in herself and in others. She becomes much more comfortable around Arthur clearly showing that she is able to see past certain aspects of personality and see the true person inside. She becomes more and more dedicated to her friend Morgana and gets extremely worried about her when her nightmares get worse. Her caring and once again loyal side is shown as she stays with Morgana, not leaving her side. She has a quick mind and will defend those who are unjustly treated even if that means standing up to someone with power and authority in the kingdom. She is extremely wise and mature despite her young age and she is also quite spontaneous and manages to surprise Arthur on more than one occasion.

“Gwen is the most kind, loyal person you would ever meet and she has been more than a friend to all of us.”
-Morgana speaking about Gwen.

Gwen shows great love for her only remaining family member, her brother Elyan. She shows a slightly resentful side towards him however due to the fact she hasn't seen him for four years and there was no sign of him at their father's death. However, her grief is just as prominent as it was at her father's death when his death was possible after he fell victim to Lamia's kiss showing she cares for him a great deal. To her friendships do not fade with time as evidenced by herself and Sir Leon. Her mother had been a maid in Sir Leon's household so the two had practically grown up together. Even though they did not see much of each other in later life due to their different duties she still shows her loyalty even after such a long time when she frees him from the dungeons.

As time goes on and Gwen becomes Queen of Camelot the true extent of her loyalty to Arthur and to Camelot is revealed. Adjusting to the life of a Queen from that of a servant would undoubtedly not have been an easy transition but she manages it, her confidence growing even more. During her husbands absences she showed herself to be strong and more than capable of making important decisions that needed to be made. Gwen is shown to have extremely good acting skills in her role as Queen, even fooling Gaius who has known her most of her life. She acted harshly, sentencing Sefa to death but it is revealed later she never intended to go through with it - she used manipulation for the overall good of Camelot. However, as the season continues it remains to be seen if this 'pretend' harsh side to Gwen is more real than expected....

[Abilities]

As mentioned before Gwen is the daughter of a blacksmith and therefore knows all about armor and various other pieces of equipment used by the knights of Camelot and even the King and Prince. She seems to have acquired her father's skills as a blacksmith especially for making armor and does so for Merlin and Lancelot. She was also able to forge a key to release Sir Leon, an old friend from the dungeons.

As also mentioned before she has basic skills when it comes to wielding a sword. However, she was no match for the Lady Morgana in a later confrontation.

[Other important stuff] THIS IS A RE-APP. She will be taken from a completely different canon point and therefore will not remember any of the amazing people she met her before. SOB ;__;

Being thrown into this place with all these people will definitely cause her to panic a little. She is the Queen of Camelot after all, she cannot leave her people to fend for themselves especially in times such as these. She's encountered a few magical creatures in the past but she's grown up in a world where magic was banned and was known to be evil so she's going to be pretty cautious. Taken from her point in canon she will of course be wary of Morgana but I wasn't cruel enough to take her from the Dark Tower episode so she'll mainly just be unsure. Once she gets used to everything though she should be fine!

[Sample Post]
[First Person]
The following sample questions/prompts are OPTIONAL. If you're stuck feel free to use these to your advantage. MINIMUM OF SIX (6).

-What do you think of your homeworld?
[A small smile plays across Gwen's face as she pictures Camelot in her mind] Camelot is the best place I know of. It has been my home for so long now I just feel like I belong there. I have all that I need there family, friends and my people. Arthur is great and noble king and I know together we have managed to make Camelot and safe and prosperous place to live.

-If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
[A firm nod, looking straight ahead] Of course. There is nothing more I want than to return home, I miss it more than anything. I do not feel right being away from it for so long. It was the only the only place that I felt content, happy and not it's been taken away from me...Is there nothing I can do to return back to my home?

-What were you doing before now?
Before I ended up here? Well, I worked in the King's Castle at Camelot. I was the personal maidservant of the Lady Morgana. I would tend to her needs every day, whatever she needed I would do my best to help her with. At times I would also help my father, he was a blacksmith in the town. Well...before he passed away that is... [A sad expression clouds Gwen's features before she shakes it away] For a few years now…well my life has changed completely. I am now the Queen of Camelot and I frequently sit at the round table and help Arthur with many decisions with regards to his..our kingdom.

- If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be?
[Another pause] I only have one sentence? Alright... Well, I always perform my duties to the highest standards and I try to be a loyal friend to those I care about.

-What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
Family and friends are the most important things to me in life. I do not mind living on my own as long as I know that I have friends out there who care for me. Although, sometimes solitude can be a good thing, it gives me time to think about things.

-Do you believe you can fly? Do you believe you can touch the sky?
[Have a confused look at that question] I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking me. You can't mean literally of course because people can't fly ...Right?

[Third Person]

Guinevere couldn’t even remember how she ended up in a place like this. The last thing she remembered was walking up in Gaius’ chambers on a bed, her head throbbing and with Arthur, Merlin and Gaius hovering over her. Of course she remembers what happened that day, how could she ever forget the ghostly face of Uther even though it could not be true…he had been dead for years. He had tried to kill her she was sure of it. Gaius told her she had needed rest though she was finding it difficult to drift off into a sleep. She felt fine now and she just wanted things to get back to normal, to forget it had even happened. Eventually she managed to drift off into a deep sleep, dreams of her recently deceased father and events of her childhood running through her mind. What she wouldn’t give to have those happy days back now…

Although she can’t remember how she ended up in this so called ‘dream world’ she remembers waking up here as if it were only yesterday. She awoke from her deep sleep, ready and prepared to meet with the knights at the round table as usual for council. Arthur had wanted her there, they were a partnership after all. Her eyes open but quickly close again as they are faced with a bright light which hurt her eyes…strange. She can’t remember leaving the curtains open and if she did it can’t be this light already can it? Unless….unless she’s slept in. But no, her handmaid wouldn’t let her sleep in and miss the council, would she? She forces her eyes to open and she places her hands down on the side of the bed, ready to get up….is that grass? She doesn’t remember grass on her bed. Although her eyes are open it does take them a while to get used to the blinding light. Whilst her eyes are adjusting she seems to notice a number of strange things. She can hear the gentle lapping of water, feel a breeze run through her hair and yes, still feel grass underneath her fingertips. When her eyes adjust she notices that she’s indeed sitting on grass with a lake in front of her. Of course, that explains the sounds and the grass under her fingers…is she still dreaming? She must be because there’s no way this could be real…is there?

Her immediate instinct is to panic but she takes a deep breath and tries to push that feeling aside as she looks wide eyed around the area. It doesn’t look familiar to her at all and there are a million questions running through her head at once. She can’t focus on one long enough to try and form any answers in her mind. Where is she? How did she get here without realizing it? What is she going to do? What about her duties, Arthur, Merlin…just a sample of the questions circling her mind. She blinks a few more times before focusing her brain and looking around. That’s when she notices the small device sitting at her side. A frown forms on her forehead as she reaches out slowly to pick it up and turn it around in her fingers. Her mind is bombarded with a new set of questions now, wondering what this…thing could be. Coming from Camelot she’s never seen anything electronically before never mind anything like this. She starts pressing random buttons on the front of the object to see if it responds in any way. A contact list pops up which to her is just a list of names she’s never heard before.

Wait! She does see a name that that she recognizes, Arthur. She immediately pictures his face and a small smile forms on her lips. What does this mean? Arthur is here with her too? In that case why is he not here with her? Even though she has no idea where he is her heart has lifted ever so slightly. If her husband is here then there is hope. She looks back down at the list and she catches Morgana’s name…she freezes her eyes widening. Morgana is here too? That can’t be a good thing…was it her that had brought them here in the first place? She wouldn’t put it past her in the slightest. Her mind then moves to the people that she didn’t see on that last, trying to ignore that feeling of dread Morgana’s name had given her. What about Merlin? She can’t imagine her life without either of them. Granted Merlin can be a bit of an idiot at times but they’re both he’s an important part of her life. A part she can’t do without and doesn’t want to imagine doing without.

She shakes herself out of this thought process as a cloud covers the sun and the area instantly becomes darker, threatening to rain. She slowly gets up figuring that she’s at least going to have to find shelter of some kind. She still has no idea what this device is but it must be important so she keeps it close to her as she walks through the grass in the opposite direction of the lake.

“There must be shelter around here somewhere….”

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?]
Since this environment is so different to what Gwen is used to I'm excited to see how she deals with it. She's an extremely strong woman and I'm looking forward to exploring that side of her more rather than the 'damsel in distress' side. Also, Gwen does love making new friends!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?]
It's a toss up between no god-modding and no meta gaming. I'm so glad to see them as rules because they are two things that any me most if they happen while RPing with someone.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?]
Mei enabled me and I thank her for it!
[Any questions?]
Nope, none!
